Professor Dr Siti Zamratol Maisarah Mukhari

Siti Zamratol-Mai Sarah Mukari is a Professor of Audiology and the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She earned medical degree and subsequently did her Masters in Audiological Medicine at the University of Manchester. She obtained her Doctor of Audiology from Central Michigan University in 2004. She started her career in UKM in 1985 at the Faculty of Medicine, before she moved to the current faculty to serve as the Founding Head of Audiology and Speech Sciences Department. She founded and directed the first Undergraduate Audiology Program in Malaysia and was one of the founding members of the first Cochlear Implant Program in Malaysia. She teaches hearing screening, auditory processing disorders and tinnitus. Her research interests are newborn hearing screening in less developed countries and auditory processing in older adults. Currently she sits in various committees at the Malaysia Ministry of Health, including the National Committee of Cochlear Implant programs.
